With an expert team of damp specialists, Below Ground Interiors provide high quality and competitively priced damp proofing in Leeds, Harrogate and surrounding local areas.
Whether you have a problem with condensation, rising damp or penetrating damp, we’ll identify the cause and provide the most suitable solution for the best possible price. We offer damp proofing alongside our structural waterproofing and cellar conversion projects or as a standalone service.
Untreated damp can cause many problems in cellars, basements and throughout a property, so if you notice signs of damp, it’s a good idea to get it checked out – when you contact our damp specialists, we’ll arrange a time to visit at your convenience.
We’ll investigate and test the areas of damp in order to identify the type, where it’s present and what’s causing, in order to provide an accurate, comprehensive report. This will include our recommendations and price for treating the damp.
Whether your problem is condensation, rising or penetrating damp, we’ll provide expert support to solve the issue and prevent reoccurrence – this may be with a damp proof course (DPC), structural repairs or simply improving and advising on ventilation.
If you wanted to solve your damp problems in order to utilise an otherwise wasted space, we offer full cellar conversion design and rebuild service, including sump pumps and 1st and 2nd fix – we even provide joinery and decorating if required.
Our highly trained and qualified team of damp specialists have many years of experience in treating rising and penetrating damp, with particular focus on cellar conversions. We use only the best quality damp proof course products and always work efficiently and cleanly, minimising any disruption to your home or business.
Condensation, rising damp and penetrating damp are the most common types of damp found in residential and commercial properties. Condensation is the least severe, and can generally be solved by improving ventilation and reducing humidity.
Rising damp is caused by water being absorbed into brick walls from the ground or underground, and is often an issue in basements and on ground floors. Penetrating damp is caused by water absorption from the exterior to the interior through cracks and leaking pipes or gutters, moving horizontally, where rising damp spreads vertically.
Damp in your property is not only unsightly, but can also cause health issues if left untreated. The musty smell it causes is unpleasant, and black mould and the damp itself can cause wallpaper to spoil and peel and lead to other issues such as decaying timber and damaged plaster.
Damp proofing using a DPC and/or membrane prevents the affected walls from absorbing the water causing the damp, providing a protective layer. Existing damp proof coursing can deteriorate over time, so even treated properties may need further attention down the line.
